The grant programme called Europe for the City will support culture in Trenčín with the amount of € 100 000

Creative Institute Trenčín, n.o., announces a new grant programme called Europe for the City, which aims to support the development of culture and creative industries. The total amount allocated to support projects is € 100 000. The programme is implemented in line with the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project and is one of the key initiatives made possible by this prestigious European label. 

“The title of European Capital of Culture is not only an award, but above all an opportunity to invest in culture and creativity. The Europe to the City programme brings specific financial support to those who shape the cultural identity of Trenčín and its future. We believe that thanks to this call new inspiring projects and collaborations will emerge,” said Ján Sudzina, Director of the Creative Institute Trenčín.  

The Europe to the City grant programme is intended for non-established organisations operating in the cultural and creative sector, whose activities contribute to the enrichment of cultural life in Trenčín. Projects can be aimed at stabilising cultural entities, supporting festivals, events and cultural tourism or linking the cultural sector with other areas, while meeting the objectives of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026. 

The call for applications is open from 13 February to 13 March 2025. Full details, including funding conditions, evaluation criteria and required documents, are available in the official call terms and conditions: Europe to the city—Trenčín 2026 Applicants can submit their applications electronically via the platform egrant.sk. The call results will be published on 31 March 2025. 

The Europe to the City programme, which focuses on promoting culture in Trenčín, will be followed by grant schemes to support the development of culture across the region and grants focused on community projects. These initiatives will help to link the cultural sector to different areas of society and support the long-term sustainability of the development of the creative environment.

The Europe to the City programme is one of the important steps towards supporting local cultural initiatives, reflecting the motto “Awakening Curiosity”. The European Capital of Culture 2026 title also provides local artists, organisations and cultural institutions with a unique opportunity to develop their projects and create long-term value for the city and its inhabitants.  

Trenčín 2026 is financially supported by the City of Trenčín, the Trenčín Self-Administration Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. The project partner is the European Union.
