“When we were growing up, we all danced. Most of us had enough freedom as children to be wild, to show off, or just to play. But as we grow older, dance changes and becomes a social event. For most of us, dance becomes a performance and can no longer be an expression of freedom. Just like with anything else in life. We stick to what is comfortable and try to stay away from what we don’t know. In 5Rhythms, we look for our own authentic, free movement—and that’s what we’ll try to do in this workshop.”
Miša Trizuljaková, accredited 5Rhythms®️ dance teacher
What is the content of the workshop?
At the “Together” workshop, in a safe space through the 5Rhythms dance, we will explore our feelings in movement as individuals, while also becoming aware of how we feel in a group. We will focus on how trust, openness, and cooperation are created—how a group becomes a community. We will give ourselves the chance to perceive connection through movement via the 5Rhythms (flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical, and stillness). Collaboration across generations and waves of live and recorded music will take us through many layers of connection between place, music, and people.
What is 5Rhythms®️ dance?
5Rhythms®️ dance is a dynamic movement meditation, a philosophy, a worldview, and an art in motion created by Gabrielle Roth, practiced by tens of thousands of dancers around the world. It is a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you get the soul moving, it will start to heal itself.
Who is 5Rhythms®️ dance suitable for?
5Rhythms®️ dance requires no prior experience or special preparation. Bring your heart and willingness to move. Adults of all ages are welcome—beginners, people with no previous dance experience, as well as experienced dancers.
What will you need?
It’s good to have several layers of light clothing for dancing and a water bottle. Since we might sweat quite a bit, a personal towel will come in handy. A blanket or mat may also be useful. We dance barefoot, in socks, or in light dance shoes. We dance without alcohol and drugs.
How long does the workshop last?
The program is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 from 14:00 to 21:00 and Sunday, April 27 from 11:00 to 17:00. Both days include a break for refreshments (about 1 hour).
Is there an entrance fee for the workshop?
The entrance fee is voluntary. If you are interested, you may give a voluntary contribution of 15 Euros, which will be used for activities related to the non-profit activities of the organizer.
