Experience the First Edition of the Light Art Festival in Trenčín
When the city plunges into darkness, we will illuminate it with art! During the Light Art Festival, taking place on April 11–12, the streets, squares, and hidden corners of Trenčín will transform into a vibrant canvas filled with light installations, video mapping, and digital art. Get ready for seven unique artworks spread across seven different locations in the city center. You can visit them from Friday, April 11, to Saturday, April 12, between 7:30 PM and 11:00 PM.
Light and multimedia installations for the festival’s first edition have been created by designers and artists from Slovakia and abroad. The Nano vjs collective from Košice will turn the City Tower into a 3D canvas for live visual projection and music. Boris Vitázek, an artist working with new media, will present a video installation in the courtyard of the Trenčín Museum, exploring the delicate balance between fragility and resilience in the context of freedom. At the Miloš Alexander Bazovský Gallery, you’ll have the chance to paint with light, thanks to an artwork by Romanian designer Noiseloop.
From the Czech Republic, Adam Cigler and Petr Vacek will bring their popular piece ‘Reflexe’, a moving mirror portal that you can experience inside the Synagogue. On your way from there, stop by OD Prior, where the TRAKT civic association will let you play the nostalgic video game Atomic Bomberman projected onto the massive façade of the building. Lukáš Dřevjaný, known as oxoo, returns to Trenčín for the second time. This year, his laser video projection at KKC Hviezda will highlight the importance of using advanced technology with positive intent and respect for nature.
The city’s landmark, Trenčín Castle, will be wrapped in a web of lasers by creative artist and technician Roman Bacul from KVANT. The festival program will also feature guided tours on both evenings, where curators from the Miloš Alexander Bazovský Gallery will take you through the installations and answer your questions about the artworks and light art.
Join us on the second April weekend for an immersive dialogue between light art and its surroundings, gain new experiences, and see Trenčín in a completely different light.
