A bridge as an important element of city life? Yes! This is what the Fiesta Bridge is supposed to be. It is designed as a superior quality public space—a new pedestrian zone on the edge of the historic centre of Trenčín, in a valuable environment above the river.
Adaptation and revitalisation of the former railway bridge
The original railway bridge over the Váh River was built on this site in 1883. In 1907, a bridge structure with a second track was added to it. The original structure, destroyed in World War II, was replaced by a new one in 1946, which was replaced by a more modern one between 1982 and 1984 and served its function until 2017, when the new railway bridge was put into operation.
The adaptation and revitalisation of the old railway bridge is intended to extend the city centre towards the Váh River. In addition to the cycle path, a significant pedestrian space in the form of a promenade is envisaged. It will also provide them with access to the nature park on the right bank of the river. The main intention is that we should not only be able to cross the bridge, but also spend time on it—relaxing, doing sports, enjoying culture or gastronomic experiences and enjoying new views of the castle and the city from its roof.
The project has been realised thanks to the title of European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026.
