At an age when many slow down, she found a new purpose in life. At 65, Miša Trizuljaková took a fresh breath through 5Rhythms® dance, and today she inspires others to connect with themselves and others through movement—regardless of age or experience.

“At the age of 65, I was a tired person. I felt like life had nothing left to offer me,” recalls Miša Trizuljaková. An artist, storyteller, and now also an accredited 5Rhythms® dance teacher in Slovakia. Everything changed when, thanks to her children living abroad, she came across 5Rhythms® dance. “Dance, music, and the community of dancers who welcomed me without prejudice, even when I couldn’t stand on my feet and only tried to move to the rhythm while sitting—this all instantly and fundamentally changed my life,” she says.

Today, Miša Trizuljaková is over 70, leads dance workshops, and is the first certified 5Rhythms® teacher in Slovakia. Thanks to her own experience, she believes that anyone can dance—regardless of age, physical condition, or previous experience. And this spring, Miša returns to Trenčín to guide us through a movement that connects generations.

Two days of movement and connection in Trenčín

As part of the Generations Together project, which is part of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026, people of different ages gathered in Trenčín last autumn. Together, they immersed themselves in creativity—taking photos, filming documentaries, cooking, and discovering themselves and their city through sound, movement, and voice. It became clear that art has a place in everyday life and brings joy that should not be denied.

We will build on this experience with a workshop focused on 5Rhythms® dance. It requires no previous experience or special preparation. Bring your heart and a willingness to move. Adults of all ages are welcome—beginners, people with no previous dance experience, as well as experienced dancers.

Miša Trizuljaková will lead the unique two-day workshop Together at the Zlatovce Cultural Centre in Trenčín on April 26 and 27. Live musical input will be provided by Dominika Belanská, from the curatorial team of the Generations Together project, who is originally from Prievidza. Together with other musicians, she will create music tailored to the dancers and the space.

“At the ‘Together’ workshop, we will explore our emotions through 5Rhythms dance in a safe space as individuals, while also becoming aware of how we feel in a group. We will explore how trust, openness, and cooperation arise—how a group becomes a community. We will give ourselves the chance to feel connection through movement via 5Rhythms—flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical, and stillness,” explains Miša Trizuljaková and adds: “Intergenerational cooperation and waves of live and recorded music will carry us through many layers of connection between place, music, and people.”
