The Europe to the City call attracted 33 projects in the fields of theatre, visual arts and community initiatives. Twenty-four of them were selected for support and will soon bring new energy, creativity and a European dimension to the streets of the city. The projects that received the highest support were Scéna V4 and Fest Art x Creative Streets 2025.

The Creative Institute Trenčín, n.o., has closed the first call of the grant programme Europe to the City. The programme was implemented in line with the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project and is one of the key initiatives made possible by this prestigious European title. The call attracted 33 applicants who submitted projects across a variety of cultural and creative sectors – from theatre, music and visual arts to initiatives focused on community and public space.

“We were extremely pleased with the interest in the call. Through this grant programme, we will support a wide range of projects – from small-scale initiatives for local residents to large public events. The variety of genres is also very diverse,“ said Stanislav Krajči from the Creative Institute Trenčín.

Based on expert evaluation, 24 projects were selected for support, as they best fulfilled the objectives of European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026. The evaluation committee focused on the content quality of the projects, their relevance to different target groups, and the sustainability of the proposed activities, according to the call’s criteria. The total allocated amount of €100,000 will be distributed among the selected initiatives to be implemented throughout 2025.

The highest financial support of €9,000 was awarded to the project Scéna V4 in Trenčín: Collective Creation in Residencies, submitted by Dogma Theatre. The project Fest Art x Creative Streets 2025 by Face2bass Klub also received €9,000. Detailed results are available at: https://www.trencin2026.eu/en/europe-to-the-city
